Yoga Lunch

Yoga Lunch ~ Poukawa Hall

YinYoga Napier was invited by local Yoga teacher Kate Mcleay to assist at her recent Yoga Lunch. Held at the rustically beautiful Poukawa Hall, we walked across days old mown grass into a traditional kiwi country hall. There was even a white sheeted old school trestle table set up outside for morning tea with Pipi Bliss balls, fresh vegetable juice and warming lemon, ginger and mint tea’s … it was a deep dive into Yoga, indie stylin’

The gathering of a diverse Yoga community, sharing laughter, great food and asana practice, left any notion of “my teacher, my student, my yoga style” mentality at the door and everyone embraced the heartfelt intention that softly underpinned the day. Goodie bags were generously filled with products – Bestow, Complimentary Yoga classes, health supplements from FX Med & Millstream products.

Yoga ~ Gathers, Nourishes, Restores & Undoes what life has done …

The morning unfolded into quiet beauty, peaceful minds and bodies, hands gently grazing arms as we moved, soft encouragement & smiles.

After a relaxing Yoga Nidra we walked in silent meditation to Alex’s {Pipi’s} beautifully renovated villa for lunch.

By the time Kate and I arrived at the villa, the lively chatter of women, eager to catch up with each other, floated out along the driveway. It made me smile. Especially when I overheard a woman say “that was hard, not talking” I agree, there was so much I wanted to say to Kate. About her graceful heart and love that radiated out into the room through her teaching. About the 79 year old who had never been to Yoga before and showed up, and gave it a go! About what we are planning next year and how I can see/feel the bones of it now. About the woman I had lost contact with and here she was, right here. How this day was Magic.

Alex’s food was abundant, locally sourced, nourishing and honest. Perfect food for post yoga practice. AND food cooked from the recipes of Alex’s upcoming cookbook. Which meant there was a photographer moving around in the background, taking images for the book … most of us hardly noticed him {not} Fortunately he had the good grace {sense} to leave us to practice our yoga in peace.

As we left Alex’s we were gifted the recipes, wrapped around a repurposed can, planted with a Kale seedling. Sustainability in a can.

As I drove away I had such a sense of “all is right with the world”  knowing more is to come {Kate and I are planning a “something” for early next year, stay tuned}
